The JoY Immersion & Teaching Apprenticeship

The JOY Yoga Immersion & Teaching Apprenticeship

January–December 2027

A yearlong journey into the practice, philosophy, embodiment, and teaching of yoga.

Yoga is so much more than what happens on a mat.

The JOY Yoga Immersion & Teaching Apprenticeship is an invitation to slow down, go deeper, and explore the many dimensions of yoga through practice, philosophy, reflection, embodiment, conversation, and community.

This experience unfolds in two connected phases.

January–June

The Yoga Immersion

The first six months are devoted to deepening your relationship with yoga.

We'll explore yoga philosophy and the Yoga Sutras, meditation, pranayama, the Yamas and Niyamas, Ayurveda, subtle body practices, Reiki, Yoga Nidra, embodiment, self-inquiry, and the integration of mind, body, and spirit.

Throughout the Immersion, we'll return again and again to the questions that help us move from knowing about yoga to experiencing and living it.

This phase is open to anyone who feels called to go deeper.

You do not have to want to become a yoga teacher to participate.

You may simply want to deepen your personal practice, explore the philosophy of yoga, or give yourself the time and space to discover what is next.

July–December

The Teaching Apprenticeship

For those who feel called to continue, the second half of the year moves into a Teaching Apprenticeship.

We'll explore the art and responsibility of teaching yoga, including anatomy, functional movement, accessibility, modifications, sequencing, teaching skills, ethics, boundaries, communication, professional responsibility, mentorship, and developing your own authentic teaching voice.

The intention is not to create teachers who all teach the same way.

It is to help each apprentice develop the knowledge, discernment, confidence, and presence to share yoga in a way that is thoughtful, safe, accessible, and authentically their own.

A Year of Practice, Not Just Information

This is intentionally different from a traditional teacher-training model.

Rather than rushing through a prescribed list of information, we will give ourselves time to practice, experience, reflect, question, integrate, and grow.

The journey will move from:

Immersion → Integration → Expression

We begin by turning inward and developing a deeper relationship with ourselves and the practice.

From there, we explore what it means to bring that practice into relationship with others.

And for those who continue into the Teaching Apprenticeship, we begin exploring what it means to share yoga with integrity.

Our Monthly Rhythm

We will gather one weekend each month from January through December 2027 at The JOY. The first Friday and the third Saturday and Sunday.

January–June

First Friday | 6:00–8:00 PM

Our Friday evening gathering will be a sacred practice—a time for meditation, pranayama, reflection, integration, and conversation.

Third Saturday | 10:00 AM–2:00 PM
Third Sunday | 12:00–4:00 PM

The Immersion weekends are intentionally spacious, allowing time for study, practice, discussion, reflection, and integration.

July–December

As we move into the Teaching Apprenticeship, our weekends will become longer to allow additional time for teaching practice, feedback, anatomy, sequencing, and mentorship.

Saturday | 8:00 AM–3:00 PM
Sunday | 11:00 AM–4:30 PM

Saturday and Sunday gatherings will primarily be held in person, with designated hybrid months when appropriate.

The Sankalpa

Our journey begins with Sankalpa—a heartfelt intention.

Rather than arriving with everything figured out, we'll spend the first six months listening, observing, practicing, and discovering what is calling us from within.

The Sankalpa becomes a thread throughout the Immersion, giving each participant the opportunity to develop an intention that is deeply personal and meaningful.

Let's Talk

Because this is an intimate and personal experience, enrollment begins with a conversation.

I don't want you to feel like you're filling out an application and waiting to see whether you've been accepted.

If you're curious, let's talk.

We'll talk about what you're looking for, what you're hoping to explore, and whether this experience feels like the right fit for you.

You don't have to have all the answers.

You can simply begin the conversation.
