The JoY Immersion & Teaching Apprenticeship

Early Registration ends October 15, 2026

January–December 2027

A yearlong journey into the practice, philosophy, embodiment, and teaching of yoga.

Each month builds naturally upon the one before it, moving from turning inward and understanding ourselves to discovering how our practice can move outward into the world.

January | Beginning

The Practice of Peace Through Presence

We begin by exploring what yoga really is and what it means to live the practice beyond the physical poses. We’ll establish the foundation for our year together, explore the Eight Limbs of Yoga, and introduce Sankalpa—a heartfelt intention that will become a thread throughout our journey.

February | The Heart

Living Your Practice

We move into the ethical heart of yoga and begin exploring how these teachings show up in our everyday lives, relationships, choices, and practice. We’ll also explore Ayurveda as a way of developing greater curiosity and understanding about ourselves.

March | Awakening

Who Am I?

We begin looking more deeply at the layers of ourselves—body, mind, emotions, energy, and patterns—and how they influence the way we experience the world. Through practice and reflection, we’ll begin cultivating curiosity about ourselves rather than judgment.

April | Blossoming

The Art of Receiving

We turn our attention toward the subtle dimensions of practice and explore energy, awareness, and the experience of receiving support. Through movement, stillness, Reiki, sound, and restorative practices, we’ll explore what it means to soften, listen, and make choices that truly support us.

May | Integration

Putting the Pieces Together

This month is about connecting the dots. We’ll revisit what we've explored throughout the first four months and consider how these teachings work together—not simply as concepts we understand, but as practices we can actually live.

We’ll also explore the patterns and obstacles that can keep us from living in alignment with what we already know.

June | Moving Toward Purpose

From Inner Knowing to Outward Purpose

We return to our Sankalpa and explore how our inner practice can begin to inform the way we move through the world. Through practices such as Yoga Nidra, meditation, mantra, and reflection, we’ll create space to listen for what wants to emerge.

June completes our six-month Immersion and creates a natural bridge for those who feel called to continue into the Teaching Apprenticeship.

The Teaching Apprenticeship

July | Merging Student & Teacher

Your Story • Your Voice • Your Why

We begin the transition from student to teacher by exploring your own relationship with yoga and what you feel called to share. We’ll begin developing your teaching philosophy, your voice, and your understanding of what it means to hold the role of teacher with integrity.

August | Understanding the Body

From Anatomy to Asana

We deepen our understanding of the human body and explore how anatomy and functional movement can inform the way we teach. Rather than teaching poses simply because they have always been taught a certain way, we’ll learn to look at movement with greater curiosity and discernment.

September | Accessibility & Agency

There Is More Than One Way

We explore what it means to create yoga practices that honor individual bodies, experiences, abilities, and choices. Modification becomes less about making a pose “easier” and more about giving students the knowledge and agency to decide what is right for them.

October | The Art of Teaching

Creating & Guiding a Practice

We bring everything together through the practical experience of teaching. We’ll explore how to thoughtfully structure a class, communicate clearly, create meaningful transitions, and guide students through an experience while remaining present enough to respond to what is actually happening in the room.

November | Rooted

Teaching With Integrity

We explore the responsibilities that come with being a yoga teacher—including ethics, boundaries, communication, relationships, and the business side of teaching. The focus is on creating a sustainable and grounded approach to sharing yoga with others.

December | Gratitude

Presence • Reflection • Celebration

We close our year together by reflecting on where we began, what we've learned, and who we've become along the way. We’ll celebrate the practice, the community, and the courage it takes to continue learning and growing.

The Thread That Connects It All

Throughout the year, we'll continue returning to the same invitation:

Practice curiosity over judgment.
Listen before reacting.
Stay present.
And trust that there is always another way to explore.

This isn't about becoming someone else's idea of a yoga teacher.

It's about discovering what it means to practice, embody, and—if you choose—share yoga in a way that is authentically your own.

OUR MONTHLY RHYTHM

The rhythm of our weekends will evolve as we move from Yoga Immersion into Teaching Apprenticeship.

First Friday of Each Month

6:00–8:00 PM

Ask • Listen • Process • Receive

Friday evenings are intentionally different from classroom time.

This is our sacred practice—a space to arrive, settle inward, practice meditation and pranayama, reflect on what we have been exploring, ask questions, share what is arising, and receive.

Our monthly Friday practice will also provide space to revisit and share reflections from the previous month's teachings.

Third Saturday of Each Month

10:00 AM–2:00 PM | January–June

Show Up • Explore • Study • Practice • Process

Our Saturday Immersion gatherings will include new concepts, lecture, discussion, experiential learning, Q&A, and practice.

Third Sunday of Each Month

12:00–4:00 PM | January–June

Mantra • Mudra • Chant • Practice • Receive

Sunday is an opportunity to move the teachings from the mind into the body through experiential practice, reflection, integration, and receiving.

Saturday and Sunday gatherings will primarily be held in person at The JOY, with designated hybrid months when appropriate.

July–December

As we move into the Teaching Apprenticeship, our Saturday and Sunday gatherings will become longer to allow additional time for teaching practice, observation, feedback, anatomy, sequencing, and mentorship.

Friday | 6:00–8:00 PM
Hybrid sacred practice

Saturday | 8:00 AM–3:00 PM

Sunday | 11:00 AM–4:30 PM

WHO IS THIS FOR?

This experience may be for you if you:

  • Want to deepen your relationship with yoga

  • Feel drawn to yoga philosophy and the deeper dimensions of practice

  • Want time and space to explore meditation, pranayama, embodiment, and energy

  • Are curious about how yoga can become part of your daily life

  • Are considering becoming a yoga teacher

  • Already teach and want to deepen your knowledge and approach

  • Feel called to eventually share yoga with others

  • Want a more intimate and experiential learning environment

  • Are willing to be curious, reflective, and open to growth

You do not have to know whether you want to teach when you begin.

The first six months belong to the practice itself.

If teaching begins to call you along the way, you will have the opportunity to continue into the Teaching Apprenticeship.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF TRAINING

This experience is intentionally being created outside of a traditional, standardized teacher-training model.

Rather than beginning with a checklist of hours and requirements, we begin with a simple question:

What happens when we give ourselves an entire year to immerse ourselves in yoga—and then explore how we might thoughtfully share that practice with others?

This is a space for study and practice, knowledge and experience, discipline and curiosity, learning and becoming.

The curriculum will continue to evolve as the program develops, allowing room for the questions, experiences, and needs of the people who are actually in the room.
